“Landscape” is an installation of hundreds of small pots pinched from white, brown and porcelain clay. Some have slip on the outside. All have glazed interiors. The dimensions of the piece are approximately four feet by six and it should be installed on the floor.
It seems odd for someone who has spent forty years as a documentary photographer concerned with social issues to have created a piece that refers even obliquely to landscape or a tapestry. It is even stranger that I’ve made something that I consider beautiful. The piece reads like a painting with groupings of different interior glazes and clay colors that create an organic flow.
