“More than 100 Porcelain Boxes” was an exercise in memorial making for a very important relationship that ended badly. The compulsion to make these very beautiful, fragile, irregular and quirky boxes was undoubtedly driven by the compartmentalization of feelings I experienced during the previous ten years.
My partner during that time was a doctor, a man used to making decisions, without the rumination and recriminations that have always dogged me. He made a decision and it was, “Next slide, please,” ending the possibility of further discussion. This clay piece became visual material for a very short video of the same name.
